MSF is an independent international medical relief organisation, with 28 offices worldwide. When large-scale epidemics occur, when areas in crisis are too dangerous for many other organisations, then our medical teams are there to assist the affected population. We organise basic medical care, treat the injured, carry out vaccination campaigns, train local staff and build up medical infrastructure. In long-term aid projects our teams fight diseases like tuberculosis, malaria, sleeping sickness, and HIV/AIDS.
Whether it is during epidemics, disasters or other crises: As a pediatrician, you will be helping where hardly anyone else can.
Working for us as a pediatrician can be very challenging. Your deployment might be to an acute war or crisis area where you only have access to the most basic technical aids. This means that along with having a wide range of practical experience, you will also need to be very flexible and resourceful. You will be responsible for the inpatient care of seriously ill newborns, treat sick, injured or malnourished children and possibly work with displaced or refugee families. Your tasks will also include things like helping combat a measles or meningitis epidemic. In addition to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of neonatal and pediatric conditions, you will also be responsible for managing, training and supervising staff in the pediatric team. As a pediatrician, you will not only be responsible for the smooth running of the pediatric ward, but also for further training staff and the collection and evaluation of data.
We strongly recommend that you attend a webinar or HR info event about working with MSF to learn more about responsibilities and requirements before you apply.
As an international organization, we support diversity, openness and mutual respect. In line with our values, incoming applications are only evaluated for their professional qualifications and are considered regardless of ethnic and social origin, religion or belief, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age.
We look forward to your application.
